Alfie works as an "elf" at the Springfield Mall that assists the "Santa", Homer Simpson. His primary task is to lift children onto Santa's lap. He isn't very enthusiastic about his job, which is probably why he doesn't actually speak. When Homer drags Bart Simpson into Santa's Workshop, he asks Alfie to cover for him.
