Merchandise Wiki
Everyone's been asking for a merchandise wiki, so I've opened a thread for a proposal. Everyone should post their own ideas here on how they would or would not like a wiki for merchandise, and maybe there might be one.

RE: Merchandise Wiki
Though I'm an infrequent contributor to Wikisimpsons at best, I would absolutely love to see a merchandise wiki. I began regularly collecting Simpsons merchandise in the mid-90s and only recently stopped. The closest thing to a single encyclopedic resource that collectors had at the time was the Simpsons Collector Sector, and even that wasn't tremendously helpful. Wikisimpsons fit into the same category at the time, as its information was far from extensive, or even reliable. Now that the wiki's gone through a pretty large overhaul with more definitive information to offer, and not to mention Fanon Wiki and the other sister projects, I think it's the perfect time for a wiki dedicated to merchandise.

That said, about five years ago, I sent a request for Wikia to create a Simpsons Merchandise Wiki (back when they still used a request system instead of making wiki creation automatic) which was promptly denied by staff. Their reasoning was that such information could be added to Wikisimpsons and that a splinter-wiki wasn't necessary. I disagreed, because I was quite dissatisfied with Wikisimpsons over their lax standards of conduct at the time. I believe the biggest article someone had written was about Bleeding Gums Murphy being a homosexual. So instead of writing merchandise articles for Wikisimpsons, I began writing them for myself in the hopes that either a) Wikia staff would later change their mind and grant me a merchandise wiki, or b) I could find a similar wiki farm that would accept my request. Being as this was 2006-ish, neither happened and the articles I wrote have been collecting cobwebs on one of my spare hard drives. Granted, I wasn't exactly a great writer at the time, (I don't think a single article is categorized) but most should be of high enough quality that they can be easily improved by myself before they're put to use.

On a side note, I'd like to suggest that the wiki's name should be either Wik-E-Mart or Wiki-Mart. It's one of those frightful joke site names that gets stuck in your head. Like Wookieepedia, but far more groan-worthy.

RE: Merchandise Wiki
For fun, I decided to brainstorm a few logo ideas in the event that the merchandise wiki is created. The most obvious idea would be to use a Homer Simpson action figure and position it like Wikisimpsons' logo. Here it is:

RE: Merchandise Wiki
Love the logo and the name. Would be great.

I am all for a Merchandise wiki. The only downside being that Wikisimpsons' article count will fall quite a bit.

And, to make this clear, Comics and games are NOT merchandise, they're media.

We can still keep merchandise articles on Wikisimpsons, but the merchandise wiki will be more detailed.

RE: Merchandise Wiki
I think we should move all merchandise articles to the wiki and then turn them all into redirects to the wiki. Interwiki redirecting is possible.

Using AWB I've calculated that the article count will only fall 321 articles.

RE: Merchandise Wiki
Hi, i think it is a good idea to get a merchandise wiki, i also like supergeeky1 name suggest Wik-E-Mart. Solar said that Simpsons Comics are media, which is true but i think we should have a section for comics there too. Because people collects them.

RE: Merchandise Wiki
Firstly, I'm all for a merchandise wiki. Also, I absolutely love the logo, Geeky! And per Solar and Doh, I believe anything that is collected, is merchandise. For example, comics, action figures, box sets, books, etc;

Update: I also forgot to say, I love the name "Wik-E-Mart"! What a classic!
