The Simpsons Movie...Wasn't it awsome? Especially the cool exolsion on the dome.

We've all seen him in the later episodes?

I think that there is a simple explanation for this. He wasn't mortally wounded. He may have thought he was going to die but he didn't and was kept alive. This has happened on several occasions with other characters (Hans Moleman).
