Full Version: Simpsons Guide to Springfield - Canon?

My girlfriend and I went on a mini book-buying binge yesterday. Our favorite used bookstore was having its annual Labor Day 20% Off Everything sale. I bought a Simpsons comic collection and The Simpsons Guide to Springfield.

Question on the table: Is the information from the Guide considered canon? I'm inclined to think the answer is "yes", because we have articles such as the one about the She-She Lounge which incorporate information from the Guide and don't have any non-canon notations. However, I figured it would be a good idea to put the question before the "Jedi Council" before I went on a Guide-incorporation binge. Cool
Good question - I looked at the book many years ago when i was much younger after taking it out from the library (they have since got rid of it) and though i never read it properly I can't remember anything that struck me as non-canon. Then again it was a long time ago...

Anyone else have it?
To clarify a bit: I'm not thinking to incorporate every iota of info from the Guide, but there are some pieces that would be nice additions. For example, Kirk Van Houten (while he and Luann were split up) was a regular customer at the She-She and liked the bar's Mai Tais. In the opening paragraph of the bar's article, all of the info is from the Guide and it's close enough to being word-for-word that IMO it needs some rewriting (and proper sourcing) in order to head off any potential plagiarism issues.

Yup, that's the very book. Thanks for digging up the Amazon link!

Anyway ... now that it's perfectly clear what we're talking about, I'll go ahead and make the changes on the She-She Lounge article. If anyone objects, feel free to speak up.
I sense this is from the book. I don't remember that many details in the episode.

It wouldn't surprise me. Another article with guide information is The Singing Sirloin. I'll add Mt. Splashmore to the "needs tending" list.
I have this book, and I do not count the book as non-canon, everything you can read there can be possible in the series.
